Patrick McLaughlin, originally from Foxborough, Massachusetts, made the transition to Vermont in 2003 to pursue higher education, ultimately graduating from Lyndon State College with a degree in Natural Resources GIS Mapping and Planning. Beginning as a wildland firefighter for the US Forest Service, McLaughlin then served as an Emergency Dispatcher in St. Johnsbury.
In 2011, McLaughlin took on a new challenge at the Division of Fire Safety, assuming the role of Area State Fire Marshal. His responsibilities included enforcing fire safety regulations, conducting inspections, and educating the public on fire prevention measures. Seeking to broaden his expertise in emergency response, McLaughlin joined the Vermont State Hazmat Team in 2015 as a technician. Where he steadily rose to the position of Captain by 2018.
Continuing his ascent in the realm of fire safety, McLaughlin transitioned to the role of Regional Manager within the Fire Marshal's office in 2019, overseeing fire safety initiatives in his designated region. In 2021 he was appointed Chief of the Vermont State Hazmat Team.
Beyond his professional endeavors, McLaughlin remains deeply engaged in his community. Serving as the Assistant Fire Chief in Lyndonville, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with Lyndon Rescue, where he works alongside his wife, who is a full-time medic and serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Caledonia County Sheriff's Office.
During his leisure time, McLaughlin cherishes moments spent with his family. Married with two children, he values outdoor activities such as playing hockey on their backyard rink during the winter and skiing. In the summer months, he enjoys camping trips with Family,
